Last Labor Day, Craftsy made all their videos free for the day! So I took full advantage of that and watched some videos on how to knit socks two-at-a-time toe-up. This was my first pair of socks using those methods and my first fingering weight sock, so I wanted to keep things simple and just go round and round, knitting along.
By the time I got to the heel, the free videos had long expired, and I fumbled my way through “Wrap and Turn.” That part didn’t turn out horrible, but it didn’t turn out great either.
It was slow going, but in a little over a month they were ready to wear (well after I used some leftover yarn to close up some holes in the heel).
I’ve since taken a Neighborhood Knits class from Madison Knitters’ Guild all about short rows, so I’m feeling much more confident with wrap & turns whenever I decide to tackle another pair of toe-up socks.
These were knit with:
- The Basic Magic Loop Toe-Up Sock pattern by Barb Tolleson
- Lucky 13 Fibers’ Fingering Weight SW Merino/Nylon
- Size US 1 needles
